The scholarship recipients were selected based on their outstanding performance while serving as interns for various TREC member companies through the Dallas Mayor’s Intern Fellows Program. This year, eight DISD students interned with 10 TREC member companies. Each student interned with TREC member companies representing various aspects of the real estate profession, from finance to development to construction. Over the eight-week internship, students rotated companies to broaden their understanding of the diverse commercial real estate career opportunities available to them.
“There is a great deal of young talent being developed in the Dallas Independent School District, and TREC wants to spark their interest in the real estate profession when they are just beginning to make career choices,” said Kraus. “We are extremely proud of our scholarship recipients, and of all the interns who participated in this year’s program. We also appreciate the efforts of ScholarShot to help us manage the funds and award these scholarships.”
TREC established its TREC Fellows Program scholarship in 2015 with an initial grant of $25,000 from TREC Foundation in celebration of its 25th anniversary. TREC Foundation has since continued to fund the annual scholarship program to support DISD students who are interested in pursuing a career in the real estate industry. TREC works with ScholarShot, an organization dedicated to helping at-risk student complete degrees in higher education, to administer the program.
